Parks and Recreation

 

There are endless recreational opportunities to enjoy the stunning natural environment of the area. The Ojai Recreation Department operates and maintains 7 City Parks and 2 Recreational Facilities. These sites offer numerous amenities, including peaceful gardens, playgrounds, athletic fields and courts, a skate park, community gymnasium, and so much more. Considered the gem of the city parks, Libbey Park (210 South Signal Street) is a beautiful downtown park that serves as the site for many community events and concerts at the renowned Libbey Bowl.

The Ojai Valley Trail is a 9.3 mile trail system that starts east of Bryant Street and ends at Ventura’s Foster Park (438 Casitas Vista Road). Biking, horseback riding, skating, and walking are all allowed on this trail. Residents that like to hit the links can use Soule Park Golf Course. This award-winning 18-hole golf facility offers a beautiful course, driving range, and restaurant. The northern portion of the city lies within the Ranger District of Los Padres National Forest. School District

Ojai Community SchoolsStudents attend schools through Ojai Unified School District. This district is dedicated to academic excellence and great extracurricular opportunities. There are 5 elementary schools for students in kindergarten through 6th grade within the district, including Meiners Oaks Elementary (400 South Lomita Avenue), Mira Monte Elementary (1216 Loma Drive), San Antonio Elementary (650 Carne Road), Summit Elementary (12525 Ojai/Santa Paula Road), and Topa Topa Elementary (916 Mountain View Avenue). Matilija Junior High School (703 El Paseo Road) educates students in grades 7th through 8th and Nordhoff High School (1401 Maricopa Highway) is for students in grades 9th through 12th.   

Health and Transportation

Residents have access to a comprehensive hospital within the city. Ojai Valley Community Hospital (1306 Maricopa Highway) offers full inpatient and outpatient care as well as 24 hour standby emergency service. There are also family medicine clinics within the city and several nearby communities.

California State Routes 33 and 150 allow residents to easily travel throughout Ventura County and beyond. These routes connect to the other major transportation routes within the region. There are several airports located within a short distance for residents needing to travel further distances. Barbara Municipal Airport (500 James Fowler Road, Santa Barbara), located 51 miles away, offers daily domestic flights, and Los Angeles International Airport (1 World Way, Los Angeles), located 86 miles away, offers both domestic and international flights.
